Everyone has a list of things they've always wanted, right?
Well, mine has alot of random things - like twistable crayons and color pencils, doughnut pans, and expensive strollers - on it. A long standing item on that list has been a return address stamp or embosser. And I promised myself that as soon as we got a house that we'd get one. Fast forward almost 6 months (eek, can you believe we moved in almost 6 months ago?!) and I still hadn't gotten one.
Today I decided to remedy that.
For the longest, I thought I wanted something fancy and scripty. Like caligraphy or some other hand lettering. I even considered asking J to hand letter me a stamp and I have it produced somewhere. But then I realized that a fancy scripty return address stamp might look wierd next to my own (decidedly more unpredictable and less fancy) handwriting. So I figured something typeset and fonteriffic (yup, totally mad that up) might be a better fit.
And with that in mind, to Etsy I went.
There are A MILLION return address stamps on Etsy. And most of them, frankly, are pretty banal. I wanted something that would be fun and interesting - something I hadn't seen before, and that wouldn't depend on including our first names (since ideally, it would be a Smithville stamp, not just me and Hubs). Oh, and I also didnt want to spend a forturne. I'll save you the extra (and probably unecessary prose) about the ones that I rejected for one reason or another and just show you the one I purchased (you're welcome). Its from Etsy seller chattypress.
I'm totally smitten. By some stroke of luck, the seller just happened to be working on another proof when my order came through, so she went ahead and did my proof too. Talk about instant gratification! Now I just have to find/order some ink so that as soon as my stamp arrives, I can get to stampin. Stamp!
Now I kinda want one with just my name on it....but I realize thats pushing it. I also still want that embosser. Maybe I'll see how often I actually use this one and go from there - lol.
